I'm attempting to draw more people to reading this blog somehow and to that end, I am changing things up here. I will continue to add a link to The Village Oak Tree podcast page so visitors may listen or jump to the podcast on my substack page.

I want to focus this blog on my writing projects, and any other things I will be doing in the future. For example, I am trying to write the second book in the Fugitives in a New United States, which I have aptly titled The Camps.

The story picks up where the first book left off, with our two fugitives trying to gather up resources and intelligence in order to travel down to Virginia rescue Dr. James Naismith's two sisters.

My trouble right now, is finding some time, without distractions, to sit down and get some more writing accomplished. I am so wrapped up in all of the current events happening around us everyday, that I am struggling to find time concentrate on this new story.

I hope that I can change this soon. I hate falling behind schedule and this is how I feel about this. I feel like I am letting people down by not sitting down to write the initial manuscript.

I have read stories in the past of authors taking years to write their stories and they were successful. As a unknown indie writer, I don't have that notoriety. I just need to get to work. The only way I am going to bring my stories to readers, is write them and put them out in front readers.

And that is the other issue. Marketing. Since I self-publish, because how the traditional publishing companies operate, I have to manage my own marketing, and setting up distribution with companies who add books to their shelves. It's time consuming and costs a lot of money.

Editing, book cover design and marketing cost me nearly $5000 dollars last year for my first book and sales have been very small. My second book won't cost me quite as much as I learned a lot last year and I won't be repeating my mistakes on this next one.

So that's what I'm up to right now. Listening to the news to prepare my household for eventualities and setting up defences to combat the onslaught from the Trump government. Working on planning our big vacation coming up on mid-May and even still working in the Gig IT world on occasion. More about that in future posts here.

That's it for this week. I don't imagine many people will read these little notes as this website is not so popular right now. But, maybe I can fix that going forward. Sláinte
